I have learnt to speak Chinese through Ada's schooling. Life becomes much easier, when you can communicate with people in their native language! It is greatly appreciated by local people, if you try to speak in Chinese. Much fun can be enjoyed whilst talking during every day life, be it getting around, or haggling for a good price when buying things! The difficult part, is taking the first step, which the school will certainly help you with. The teaching style is relaxed and fun, as it should be.
Try it, learning a new language can be fun!!! |

My name is Marie and I came to Shanghai a year ago when I was 45 years old. I am from Denmark and my first language is Danish which in fact is very far away from Chinese (Mandarin). And Chinese, I have been struggling with ever since I came, because even in Shanghai most Chinese people don't speak much English. |
Ada was my second Chinese teacher and she made me believe that I actually could learn to speak Chinese. We worked very hard with the tones and pronunciations, which is very important – if you want somebody to understand you. Later on we took it very slowly with a few new words every classes and we always repeated what we learned previously. And a good thing about Ada , she forced us to speak about subjects which we came across in our daily life. |
Now I have started to learn the characters which are very hard work but also funny, I think. In a way it helps me to remember the words better and it also gives me at better understanding of how the language works. Besides that I don't feel so illiterate any longer when I walk in the streets. |

My criteria for a language school was simple - I wanted a teacher who could keep me not only interested in the material, but also challenged with modern/useful Chinese language. My search lasted about two months and I held a couple of "trial lessons" with different schools before deciding on iSpeak. A couple of qualities impressed me about Ada : first, she has the ability to think on her feet and instruct in real time, while staying on schedule. Also, she is well-prepared and never runs out of useful information to discuss - her lesson plans are thorough. I have been studying Mandarin off and on for 13 years and was looking for a plan suitable to my needs and Ada did just that. |

I would recommend iSpeak to anyone who is considering a formalized Chinese language instruction. She comes to my office during lunch, which is perfect for my hectic schedule and only offers homework when I have the capacity to handle it. She understands the work demands placed on her students and doesn't ask too much - but having said that, I have learned so much with her instruction over the past three months and look forward to her lessons every week. |

I think you offer a very valuable service. If I understand correctly, you offer a blend of Mandarin instruction with interpretation and other individualized assistance. Just what I need! What I think you offer is more appealing to me because my main goal is to learn the language. But your service of assistance in life situations beyond the standard book-based instruction is very important to me. For example, reading the characters on our telephone buttons was very much appreciated. It worked out very well, by the way. Thank you again. |
